In response to the idiotic and pointless burning of the Koran by a Florida pastor and the deadly riots that followed, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has proposed limiting the First Amendment.

"I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we're in a war," Graham told CBS' Bob Schieffer on Sunday.

Graham mentioned government censorship of the First Amendment during the Second World War. FDR signed Executive Order 8985 in December of 1941 and established the Office of Censorship. The order gave a legion of bureaucrats "absolute discretion" over the exercise of the First Amendment and the free speech of all Americans.

I do not see this actually happening in this day of age. I know I could be wrong since we have lost a lot of our rights due to the governments favorite word "terrorism"

Like I said before....the gop are the party of domestic enemies and should be eliminated! Those of us who served in uniform and those who serve in office take an oath and graham seems incapable of understanding or following that oath (and as a person serving in the military, it is even more unconscionable) and he should be removed from office at the very least!

Hmmmmm, and these are the people that are opposed to limiting the types of "arms" citizens can own & regulating the sale of such items. I guess the 1st Amendment is up for grabs because they want to silence their opponents but the 2nd is sacrosanct because they want to keep their soon to be uneducated supporters armed.

Once again, hypocrisy rears it's ugly head. Any mention whatsoever of censorship from a non-Republican would have righties up in arms, but when it comes from their side of the sisle I guess that's OK. Interesting that he would dare to speak out against the actions of a homophobic church though, hmmm. I think that the WBC and its members are fanatical wackos...but, this is America and it is their right to act out, provided they are not restricting others freedoms. I do not want someone restricting my right to call them un-American fascists that are as bad or worse than those who spat upon soldiers returning from Viet Nam. If they ever show up at any military funerals in my community I will be amongst those making them feel most unwelcome.
